Archaeology [är-'kē-'ä-lə-jē]
The study of ancient peoples and their cultures.

Archaeologists look for and study the things that people from long ago left behind. They are interested in how people lived, how their houses were laid out, clothes they wore, tools they used, the food they ate and even their garbage! Archaeological work is like trying to piece together a puzzle with lots of pieces missing.
