Forests!
- Forests ['fȯr-əsts]
- A large area of land covered with trees or other woody vegetation.
A forest is a complex community of life in which trees are the dominant life-form. Forests cover almost 1/3 of the earth's land surface and produce large amounts of oxygen that mammals need to breathe. Healthy forests provide all sorts of benefits. They filter water, absorb carbon, provide homes for wildlife and plants, prevent soil erosion, and offer food, fuel, medicine, and recreation for people. Forests are especially important in Idaho where it has the largest percentage of its land dedicated to national forest in the nation, nearly two-fifths of the state.
