Gravity ['gră-və-tē]
A force which pulls two objects with mass toward each other.

All objects with mass, like the Earth, have gravity. Trees, water, animals, buildings, and the air we breathe are all held in place by the earth's gravity. Gravity works the same on all objects unless some kind of resistance, such as the atmosphere, gets in the way. Gravity exerts its force even at great distances — the sun's gravity affects the earth's orbit, and the moon's gravity affects earth's ocean tides.
