Habitat ['hă-bə-tăt]
The natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism.

Every animal has a place to live and a job to do. We call where they live their habitat. Their niche is how they fit in with all the other creatures and plants in that place. There are lots of different habitat types on Earth: lakes, streams, forests, deserts, or even a drop of water. Many plants and animals share the same habitat and form a community. They can all live together when they occupy slightly different niches or hold different "jobs."
