- Heredity ['hə-re-də-tē]
- The passing of traits to from parents to offspring by the genes of the parents.
A lot of who you are is found in your genes. You get your genes from your parents. Genes are found in every cell's nucleus and are made of stands of DNA. These genes pass along traits like height, eye color, even personality. The science of heredity in biology is called genetics.
