Light & Color ['līt] [ănd] ['kŭ-lûr]
Light is a mixture of all visible electromagnetic wavelengths; color is the sensation resulting from the eye seeing light waves of certain lengths.

Light waves are very similar to sound waves, but can move much faster – at the speed of light! Visible light is the type we can see, but there are many types we cannot see, such as x-rays. Most light that we use, like sunlight, is actually a mixture of all of the visible light wavelengths. When a beam of light is separated out, we see all the colors, like in a rainbow.
