Nervous System ['nûr-vŭs] ['sĭs-təm]
A complex network of cells that relays messages from all parts of our body to and from our brain.

A huge network of nerves and neurons take the sensations we experience through our ears, eyes, nose, skin and mouth, sends them to the brain, and helps direct how we respond to pain, temperature, sound and other sensations. Our body does some things without our conscious effort, like breathing, while others we learned but have become easier over time, such as kicking a soccer ball. All of these things are possible because our nervous system sends messages throughout our body to help it function and stay safe.
