Sports Physiology [spȯrts] [fĭ-zē-'ä-lə-jē]
The study of how the body works and functions during athletic activities.

There are scientific principles behind many sports-related activities — velocity (speed), mechanics (how things move), and force (energy applied to an object). By studying how the body moves and consumes food energy, science helps athletes become stronger, healthier, and more flexible. Science is also involved in learning how to prevent and treat injuries related to sports.
