Brian Jorgenson

City Forester, Boise Parks & Recreation Department

Once upon a time, Brian was a computer programmer, having gotten an associates degree in computer operations. After nearly being bored to death for several years, he returned to school in Natural Resource management to find a new path forward.

Brian graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Forest Resources in 1994. That same year, he moved to Boise and began working for the Community Forestry office of the Boise Parks & Recreation Department. He has worked there for a total of nearly 20 years, becoming the City Forester in 2007. Brian is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture and is a Certified Arborist with the same organization.

In his spare time he enjoys photography, traveling, reading and enduring the never-ending struggles of home ownership. Brian and his wife Gail have 2 grown children, a dog named Korra and 6 shade trees.
