Viruses!
- Viruses ['vī-rəs-əz]
- Tiny one-celled living organisms, also called microbes, too small to be seen with your eyes.
Viruses are everywhere, but they must invade a human, animal or plant host cell in order to grow and reproduce. Viruses can cause disease such as the flu, colds, Ebola, West Nile, HIV, and SARS. They can enter through the nose, mouth or breaks in the skin. Fortunately, our immune system usually gets rid of viruses before they can reproduce too much and cause harm.
