Fossil Resources for Teachers
Find a rich vein of teacher resources at the Paleontology Portal (includes teacher guides).
The Great Fossil Find takes students on an imaginary fossil hunt. Following a script read by the teacher, students “find” (remove from envelope) paper “fossils” of some unknown creature, only a few at a time. Each time, they attempt to reconstruct the creature, and each time their interpretation tends to change as new pieces are “found.”
The University of California Museum of Paleontology has a list of common Geological Terms for teachers.
Evolution and the Fossil Record from the American Geological Institute, explains some of the evidence for the change of life forms over time, especially as documented by the fossil record. This is a good resource for teachers.
